“Why do you crochet?”
“Because I love to.”
“What do you love about crochet?”
“The act of creating something; giving shape to something beautiful; gifting handmade items to friends and family; trying new patterns and watching them take shape . . . “
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on. Those are quite a few things you like.”
“True. Imagine how engaging and satisfying this is.”
“Sure sounds like it, the way you put it.”
“Where do you get your patterns?”
“Mostly Pinterest, but sometimes I come up with my own. If you know the crochet language, you can read patterns, create your own and also share them with others.”
“Crochet language?”
“Yes. Single crochet or sc, double crochet or dc, half double crochet hdc and a lot more.”
“Care to share a pattern that you created?”
“Sure. Check out these hoop earrings.”
“They do look beautiful. What is the origin story of these.”
“A friend forwarded an Instagram reel for crocheted hoop earrings. She wanted me to make this for our group of friends. Some 20 odd earrings had to be made.
“Wow.”
“Yeah, truly wow. I was not sure I would be able to do it. She then purchased the hoops and sent them over. Now I had to do them.”
“So, you replicated the pattern?”
“No. I tried to, and I did, but the pattern did not appeal to me. Looked at some more patterns but then said to myself, forget it. Why not do something yourself. Gave it a couple of attempts and finally came up this short, simple and elegant.”
“Let’s have it then.”
“Sure. It’s called the Fan Earrings. Hope you enjoy making it”
